We have been able to identify some factors that will favour carpenter ant infestations in homes. One of the most obvious is when a home has carpenter ant habitat. Ants love areas with a lot of evergreen trees, stumps, logs and old brush or wood piles.
Vines, tree branches, shrubs, flowers and other vegetation growing on or touching your house will make it very attractive to carpenter ants. Structual leaks, improper flashing on windows, doors or roof lines, stored firewood, and soil touching the siding of your house will increase the likelyhood of carpenter ant infestation.
Colonies will form satellite nests hundreds of feet away from the primary nest. Carpenter ants can nests have been found in door frames, hollow doors, curtain rods, insulation, wood sills, fences, retaining walls, tree stumps etc. Our approach is to gain control and keep the ants out of your home. We are so confident in our control program that we will come back for free to retreat, should you get ants again during that season.
